A New Busy Year

So I've been semi-absent from the web lately, really kind of semi absent from life and I had a good friend say they were upset they haven't seen many updates of me, so I thought I would stay blogging again.

A lot has been going on in my life lately, so its been a good and bad thing.

For starters, I recently went to the Central Florida Scottish Highland Games, which I have gone to most of my life. Met up with my family, paid my societies dues. (Kinda sad that I have to pay a fee in order to remain part of the family!) I know that the money goes towards helping the upkeep of the family castle and museum back in Scotland, so I don't mind. PLUS it goes towards scholarship funds, which hopefully I will be able to take advantage of here soon.

While at the games, the new director of South Florida and I were talking, and I mentioned some things about my interest in Scots-Gaelic, and that I have been studying it on and off for a good bit, then we figured what a good way to help the preservation of it, by starting a "learning group"... and who else to head it up... yours truly!! So I have been busting my culo in order to refresh on the stuff I knew, and learn the stuff I don't. I found a really good online course, and so far have maintained a 99% on all my tests. Sooner or later, my goal is to become completely fluent, so hopefully one day I can raise my kid(s) speaking Gaelic as well!

In addition to that, I have been still working hard on my investment course. Well, that is a bit of a stretch, I have been TRYING to work hard. I am behind in my studying and tests, but this last trip I took, was good for me, as I was able to read up on some of it!

Now on to my last trip. What kind of "fun" things did I do you may ask. Well, nothing really 'fun'. We flew the White House press staff. Was extremely impressed with the spread for the predeparture... enough to make me want to cry! A lot of the people who had flown with them before said they were a little snobby and uptight, but I didn't find it so.

I am learning that a lot of people who are ignorant to, envious of, or just disagree with a certain person, or lifestyle tend to feel that someone from that group is "wrong". I will say that I can see how that is easier to do instead of trying to 'learn' why the person is the way they are.

The reporters I felt were very polite and personable, or maybe it was my approach."Bitch I'm not going to ask you again, you want chicken or pasta... I ain't got all flight for you to make an easy decision ho, now give me your answer"..... On the INSIDE!

The layovers were really bad and short, however the crew was really good. I only had a run in with the captain, because he thinks just because he has 4 fake gold stripes, he can be an ass. AND he was brave enough to do it when I was OFF the clock... AND in a bar. I gave him a GOOD OLD FASHION CUSS OUT! I was semi-polite about it, as polite as you can be when telling someone you really don't give a flying f*&k! (no pun intended)

The only interesting thing that did happened was me getting stuck in the bathtub. Thanks to an over indulged workout 2 days before.

As the above said, I have also rejoined my gym. Since then, I have started to watch what I eat again, and by that I don't mean watching it from my plate to my mouth! I worked out WAY too hard on the first day back, and because of that, was in severe PAIN, not sore, but PAIN for about 3 days afterwards. I worked out again today, and it feels great to get back into the gym.

Tonight, following the "healthy" mentality, I was going to try something new and make quinoa, but that didn't happen. I started to make it, and realized that it would have turned out making way too much for just myself (I hate cooking for just me), and instead I decided to make a more Turkish style dish. I ended up making a warm chicken salad that was made by toasting cumin seeds with garlic, salt, and some cilantro, I then added in garbanzo beans, and lastly the chicken, then finished it by adding in some Greek style yoghurt. I then ate it on those whole wheat sandwich thins, and it was incredibly filling, and tasty. I then figured out the calories and fat and protein, and was surprised how healthy it was too! Then I finished it off by eat ting a beautiful fresh organic blood orange! I am on my way to being sexy again... although I have learned here lately, that sexy is a state of thinking rather than a state of being!

I am now headed over to Cuca's and TDM's to meet TDM's new man. They want to have some beers, but that's not going to happen because I am remaining focused on my goal of losing 5% body fat!

I will try to be more active in writing, because apparently there are people who have some interest in my life! It's nice to hear!!
